Cap and Trade: The Middle Class Swindle
By Capitalist in ChiefWait, I’m confused, didn’t Barack Obama say he’ll raise taxes only on those making $250,000 a year or more? Did that promise seem good to you? Did you believe it? Did you really think a vote for Obama is a vote for sticking it to the rich? Well now we have Cap and Trade, a program which will tax corporations for carbon dioxide emissions, you know the green house gas. What has it got to do with the common folk you ask? Let’s hear it from Barack Obama himself:
Under my plan of cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.
So electricity rates would skyrocket. And it’s not just electricity that will be more expensive. Since all production requires energy in one way or another, the price of everything will go up.
Cap and Trade is another way of raising taxes on everybody without having to admit it. In this method of taxpayer deception, the government taxes corporations, which then pass on the costs on to you.
Even the low income credits designed to offset purchasing power lost due to Cap and Trade, which are included within the Waxman-Markley comprehensive energy bill, leave most of the burden to the middle class. It’s always the middle class that gets swindled under socialist policies.
Regardless of the validity of climate change legislation, why do people keep falling for socialists’ promises to pay for everything by taxing the rich?
