Barack Hussain Obama, the world darling, beloved by all, the one who was going to repair America’s tarnished imaged of an “evil”, “torturing” nation, that goes around imposing its “evil” will on poor “innocent” nations, the same Obama that supposedly won the “global electoral college” by a landslide of 9115 to 203, took a fleet of large gas guzzling jumbo jets to Copenhagen last week to charm the International Olympic Committee into awarding the 2016 Summer Olympics to the city of Chicago. Michelle Obama also went, flying a separate gas guzzling large 757 jet. Michelle and Barack each gave their own speech.

There was much adulation following the speeches. From morethanthegames.co.uk:

“[Chicago mayor Richard] Daley believes it was the emotive and passionate nature of Michelle Obama’s speech that exemplified Chicago’s bid.”

“Meanwhile, Chicago 2016 CEO Patrick Ryan admitted his relief the presentation was finally over and expressed his belief that his team have done enough to secure victory.”

So what was the result of the efforts of the Obamas, the darlings of the world?

Chicago not only lost its Olympic bid, but it came in last! It lost in the first round and was first to be booted out of consideration. In comparison, a few years ago, when the U.S. president was G. W. Bush, who knew not to meddle in such matters as Olympic bids, New York lost its bid, but in the second round.

Is it Barack Obama’s fault that Chicago did not get the 2016 Olympics? Probably not. However, it is likely that Obama’s “how can you refuse me, I’m Obama” attitude did contribute to Chicago’s expeditious dismissal in the first round. And it is certain that all of Obama’s supposed international admiration, charm, and oratory skill did not help Chicago’s bid one ioda. After all, it did come in last!

Why is this important? Obama’s failure to secure the Chicago Olympics shows the following:

1. Obama’s alleged ability to charm people into liking America on the international scene is a myth. International support for Obama’s candidacy was largely based on the hope that he would sell America out.
2. Obama’s ability as a great orator who’s able to convince and charm people into doing things for the supposed common good is also a myth.
3. Obama’s abilities in general have been way over-estimated.
