Obama Says That He’s the Free Market Capitalist While Bush Is the Socialist
ByIn an attempt to avoid the well deserved bad rap socialism had gotten, Obama calls the NY Times following an interview to clarify why he is not a socialist. He goes right ahead and tries to claim that he is the one who’s doing free market capitalist things, while Bush was the one who was doing socialism.
OBAMA: Uhhhh, I – I – I did think it might be useful to point out that, uh, it wasn’t under me that we started, uh, buying a whole bunch of shares of banks. Wasn’t on my watch. And it wasn’t on my watch that we passed, uhhh, a massive new entitlement, uhh, the prescription drug plan without a source of funding. Uh, and so I think that, eh, it’s important just to note, uhh, when you start, uhh, hearing folks, eh, throw these words around, thaat, Um, uh, we’ve actually been operating, uh, in a way that, uh, is entirely consistent with free market principles, uh, and that, uhhh, uh, some of the same folks who are throwing, uh, the word “socialist” around can’t say the same.
(By the way, what’s with all the um’s uhh’s and eh’s? I thought Obama was supposed to be a genius orator. )
Obama, you’re not a socialist? I suppose we are not going to “spread the wealth around” and do the national health care thing anymore? And we’re definitely not going to redistribute wealth from people who pay their mortgage to people who don’t. Furthermore, we are not going to spend “without a source of funding.” And we won’t be “buying a whole bunch of shares of banks.” If you didn’t like this agenda under Bush, why are you continuing it now? You think that taxing “the wealthy” is going to pay for all your stimulus spending?
Obama voters, did you know you were voting for a free market capitalist? Did you know that Bush was a socialist? For any of you blaming Bush for the bad economy, if you are to believe Obama, it was necessarily socialism that failed, and therefore we should adhere to free market principles from now on!
Obama is right this time, the only problem is that he doesn’t mean it. Why does he think he can get away with claiming that what he wants to do is capitalism as compared with what was done under the previous president’s watch?
When Obama is asked: “Right. So whose watch are we talking about here, sir?” Obama never answers. He knows that what he’s saying is far too far-fetched to bring home by saying “George Bush.”
